874 Repeater

Gold pair case.

The case needed the pendant repaired, otherwise it
was in excellent condition.

Gold dial signed D. Quare London

Movement and repeater parts.

Very nice early design work. Note the fancy
work on the repeater barrel.

Time and repeater train. Note the fusee before
I added the chain.

Repeater mainspring barrel and escape wheel.
Fancy steel work, which tells us this is a very early watch.

Repeater hammers.

One repair needed was a pivot on the contrate
wheel.
Before and after I repivoted it. With the advent of small carbide
drills repivoting can now be done with out heating the pinion. A
much better way.

Finally we have the watch number 874 on the inside
case back, on the movement, under the bell, and on the mainspring
cap.
All said and done this restoration on a watch made by the man that
invented
repeating watches was very interesting, and I thought I would share
this
fine watch with you. Chances are you will never again see the
"inside
out" of a Quare watch.
